New Galaxy 8 messing with my Apple TV?

It's my first android phone and it seems to be affecting my Apple TV. When I'm around the ATV with the phone a message will pop up with something about needing to be controlled by an ios7 or higher device. When the ATV is off and I'm using the phone around it it will turn on by itself. I could just be having an ATV issue but my wife says it doesn't happen when I'm not home.

Anyone else experiencing this? I wonder if it's trying to cast to it somehow? I also have the google home app but haven't really set it up yet.
