[Macros] Best way to work out a starting point for diet?

I have used a TDEE calculator and apparently I will be in a 500 surplus at around 3000 calories, however I can easily fit in more calories throughout the day whilst keeping my diet clean.

I have seen mixed reviews about the TDEE calculators being reliable.

Would it be a bad idea to start at 3500 calories and if I see too much fat gain then I can just lower the calories?
