Single Player Question & Answers

Here is Lum's post in reply to u/Lord_Darkmoon post from the official forums. I just want to pull out a few I thought were "odd"

2 How about respawning rules in offline mode? Will enemies respawn just like in online mode? Will the evil Lich Lord stay dead after I defeated him? Combat/respawning changes for offline mode have not been worked on yet so can't speak as to final implementation but a lack of respawn for places that make sense (ie dungeons, bosses) in general would be the intention.

This to me seems very odd as here you are less then 6 months till release and you don't know the respawn rules for mobs? To me this should be an option for players.

3 How about visible and lasting consequences to our actions in offline mode? There is no player housing preventing this. Will the farmer return to his farm after I defeated the undead there? There will not be quests designed specifically for offline mode.

This again seems odd since your not dealing with "online" play you can do this kind of thing to get back to your story telling days but don't offer something for players to see there actions and consequences?

4 How about the automap? How will it work in offline mode? Since it's a third party utility that works over the Internet, if you're offline (from the internet entirely, not just in offline mode) it won't work.

This is just F'ing BS. You said as a stretch goal we would get this now its not an option? WTF And your using someone else to build something you said you would do and what happens when that person decides to stop paying for that server/service and it closes. No this needs to be in client not by some mod maker.

6 When will the other companions be implemented? We haven't done this yet because this is the one major big content feature exclusively for offline players, we really want to do them well, and it will take at least a month of implementation per companion. Almost certainly after the summer.

So the way I'm reading this they don't have a clue as to how the companions are to interact with the story. This is bad story telling 101. Yea we have companions but they don't play any roll in the game. Way to go.

7 What about sleeping to advance time or resting in general? It's technically very easy to do (we actually have a developer-only console command that does this) so it's just a matter of opening up to offline players with some sort of UI.

Well this is a 180 from what they have said in the past that it wouldn't be in the game. I hope it does make it into the game.

10 Will grinding be neccessary in offline mode in order to advance? Goal is for grinding to be unnecessary in offline and online both. Solution for this is a LOT of side quests and we have implemented almost none of these. Definitely a very immediate goal.

So what happened to the 40 plus hours of detailed story that this game was going to be? Not side quests but main quests. Its not grinding cause you haven't done the side quests? WTF, in Witcher 3 they had side quests and know what, you could skip them and no issue with combat/power or anything like that.

12 How will sieges play out - especially if I don't have all of the companions in my party? This will be part of the combat changes for offline

Way to give a non-answer as so many issues with sieges in this game.

So overall again more non-answers and not giving people what you said you would give them from my overall read of things.
