[College Physics] Levers, torque, and moment of inertia
I have a couple major issues with these contacts. The first example that has me stuck is calculating the torque required to stop a spinning flywheel with uniform mass distribution. the angular velocity is given as RPM, radius given in meters, time given in minutes.
I'm not even really sure where to start. For starters, I don't know how to calculate moment of inertia, that confuses me. And secondly, I'm not sure how to work out the units. Once I get that figured out I'm sure I'll be golden, just don't know what I need to convert, if anything.
Another example is a spinning propeller with the radius given and five equal mass propeller blades. I need to calculate its kinetic energy with the angular velocity given but I know i need the moment of inertia for that and it has me quite clueless.
Really, just need to figure out moment of inertia and i'm sure i can get it from there.
Thanks in advance! <3
