Looking for a manual daily

I am a college student with a budget from about $4k to $5k. I am a automotive enthusiast, and while I would love to find a clean s13, datsun, miata, or 350z I need a car that can seat 5, preferably a wagon. Car needs to be a manual, and reliable. Quick would be preferable but not necessary, as reliability is king especially at this pricepoint. I mountain bike and camp so I would like a comfortable highway cruiser that has some oomph and a considerable aftermarket (dont worry it wont be riced out) . Preferrably a turbo, rwd or awd but not necessarily so. Open to any suggestions with reasoning but for reference I have been looking at outback xt's (cheaper than a legacy gt and looks cooler when lowered), saab 9-2x (subaru wrx but cooler) saab 9-3 sportcombi (2.0T or even aero if possible at this pricepoint). I want to steer clear of german cars for the most part (save for saab, i can make an exception) due to maintenance costs unless somebody can prove me wrong or has an alternate experience with them. Thanks in advance!
