H.R. 758: Repealmemt of the Hughes Amendment Act

Bill Discussion

#Repealment of the Hughes Amendment Act

Whereas, the restriction imposed by the Hughes Amendment on already controlled machine guns is excessive.

Whereas, the second amendment states that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” while still maintaining the fact that fully automatic firearms are dangerous weapons that should still be maintained under the National Firearms Act of 1934.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States here Assembled:

ARTICLE 1: Definitions

(a) A “machine gun” is any firearm that is designed to or is readily convertible to be allowed to fire more than a single round per pull of the trigger.

ARTICLE 2: Repealment

(a) 18 U.S.C. § 922 subsection O shall be struck in its entirety.

(b) All machine guns shall remain subject to the restrictions laid forth in the National Firearms Act of 1934.

ARTICLE 3: Enactment

(a) This act will go into effect 30 days after its passage
