Top rated pre-match comments

  • Prediction: Vertonghen will get his goal. - u/CONNNNN

  • Just don't put Son in defence and we should be fine. Maybe play Dier in midfield. - u/stella__art

  • It will be a battle of the mind in these coming matches. The boys need to remain composed and just focus on the game in hand. Palaces' recent form is menacing but there is no reason we can't walk away with all 3 points. COYS! - u/DriftingInTheFoam

45+1' - The Halftime whistle blows

My first half thoughts

Palace is playing with the same confidence on the field that their fans are emitting from the stands. It's been a very loud first half, and Palace seems to be taking it in and using it. Also after their recent form it should come to no surprise they would not be scared to play Spurs today. Spurs actually look the more cagey side after one half of football, with players getting noticeably upset when calls aren't going their way. Even with all of this, I would say the chances have been about even, Spurs just need to come out with more confidence in the second half. COYS!

First half comments

  • One loss to the best team in the league and y'all just start to point out all the little mistakes our players make in the next game lmao. Y'all need to chill we usually start our games slowly. - u/BoogerHD

  • Dembele: muscular but fair. Sounds about right. - u/drunkwithanxiety

45' - Son and Sissoko on for Dembele and Wanyama - Poch wants the win
46' - Walker sends Zaha flying, seemingly frustrated with Zaha's bit of skill. Yellow for Walker
49' - Son already having an impact, sends in a low driven cross, defended well out for a Spurs corner
49' - Almost every set piece has bounced in the box today, including this one, but eventually cleared by Palace
53' - Dele takes on a shot from outside the box which goes wide left, he had options
53' - Sakho takes a nasty spill, being carted off
57' - Delaney on for the injured Sakho, game back underway
58' - Spurs finish a nice attacking move after 3 or 4 chances with a Dele volley that trickles wide right
60' - Yellow card for Kane, not sure why, it was a 50-50 ball which Kane properly cleared
62' - Eriksen tries for the same pass he made to Dele against Chelsea the plastics, caught by Hennessey though
63' - Dele is becoming more involved in this game now, he has a shot which forces a decent save from Hennessey
65' - Son to Dele to Walker, who has a hard shot from outside the box, it sails right of the goal
66' - Zaha seems to be about as clumsy as a penguin, falling over every-time he is touched today
66' - Yellow card for Ward, it could've been for dissent just as much as for the contact
69' - Spurs really in control of this match now, one way traffic towards the palace box for the last 10 minutes
73' - Kane attempts to slide the ball across the front of the Palace net, out for a corner
73' - Dier wins the header at the near post, but too far in front of the post and can't steer the ball on target
75' - Not sure how Sissoko isn't on a yellow after that challenge, John Moss is all over the place with his decisions
78' - Two dangerous crosses into the Palace box, with the latter being headed by Kane right at the keeper
78' - GOOOOOOALLLLL!!! Eriksen scores a 30 yarder into the bottom left! What a strike! Get in!
Clip of the goal
80' - Cambell on for Benteke
81' - Kane with a dangerous run towards the Palace goal, guided out for a corner however
82' - John Moss with his infamous corner officiating finally lets it be taken, defended easily by Palace
85' - Two back to back corners for Spurs, both defended fine by Palace
88' - Corner for Palace, headed away by Dier
90' - 7 minutes of extra time because of the Sakho injury, Spurs keeping up the pressure, not sitting back
90+4' - Spurs win a corner, in no hurry to take it, it goes short to Sissoko who wins another corner, using up time
90+5' - Trippier on for Dele (presumably because he's the furthest from the bench) he walks off as slow as possible
90+6' - Walker delivers a decent low cross towards a few Spurs players in the box, none were able to get on it
90+6' - Yellow for Zaha, and this Spurs free-kick should be just about the last kick of the game

Final Whistle: Crystal Palace 0 - Tottenham 1

My thoughts on the game

After a cagey start in the first half, the Spurs completely dominated the second half. Full credit to the Palace defense however, they did well at parrying the multitude of Spurs attacks. You just can't give a wizard like Eriksen that much space, even if it is from 30 yards out.

Spurs deserved the win, but they didn't look their normal dominant self throughout the game against lower-end teams. Again full credit to Palace, good game from them. I feel 1-0 is a fair scoreline.
