Passing through town tonight. Any suggestions on where to stay or what I can't miss?

My parents and I are passing through town on our way to visit some schools and I figured I should ask for suggestions from locals. We were hoping we could find somewhere to sleep besides the car.

Also, any local spots that you recommend we see before we take off in the morning?
