[Spoiler] Was the death of the certain person at the end of the season finale a mistake?

The characters I most enjoy were Ford, William and Arnold (even though hes technically dead). Killing off Ford, the last remaining person who had an integral part of creating the hosts, and who also had great insight on how the hosts work was a major blunder in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Because if a lot of people share this opinion the show creators might pull a fast one and make it so he never died or something.
