Sold some things to a tenant in Missouri.

I just moved from Missouri to Ohio and I went through renter's warehouse to rent my place out. I made a separate deal with the tenant to buy 3400$ worth of my stuff so I wouldn't have to move it(desk, lawnmower, TV, projector...ect). I had the guy sign a bill of sale, stating that I was OK taking payments, 400$/month until paid off. I am now 2 months in without receiving a payment, but he is still paying his rent. I reached out, he tells me he lost his job, yada yada.

I am cool with waiting for the dude to get back on his feet, but I just want to make sure there isn't some period of time that he is trying to wait without paying, so he can say that it is his because of some legal technicality.

I really don't want to take the guy to court for obvious reasons, any advice would be great!
