Looking for advice on relocating rose bushes

Hello all,

I have a few rose bushes at the front of my flower bed that I would like to relocate a few feet back from the edge. Any tips or important items I should know about? To me it seems simple - dig them up and plant them in a hole just as if I was planting them from a pot. The only thing I'm worried about really is the root system. How far out should I dig from the shrub? How deep?
