Buttons not working...

Am I doing something wrong? I have the uv-82, i used chirp to put in my local repeater (A), and 146.52 (B)

I can tx/rx on both just fine, but every other button on the face of the radio does nothing. I can hold the 3 i think on boot up and go into freq mode, but when not in that mode all the buttons dont do anything. Am I doing something wrong, do i need to change a setting, is it "defective" ?
