Redirecting to a new URL after making an alteration to the URL

Is there a way in HTML to redirect to an altered URL once the page has loaded? I would like my discussion board to load in the Threaded view instead of the Flat view, but there is no choice for Threaded. I have seen that you can change the URL to /Threaded instead of /Flat to get the Threaded view.
