Restoring wordpress website without MySQL?

Hi folks, I was hoping you could help me with this.

I lapsed my hostgator subscription because I knew I wasn't going to need the service but I wanted to back up my website for restoring it later as needed.

Problem is, I only backed up my home directory and not the MySQL databases.

To what extent can I restore the website without the database? Can I ask Hostgator to just send me my backup without having to pay for another hosting cycle?
