Alamy vs Getty
Ok, so I'm finding that it is increasingly difficult to sell images online due to a lack of exposure. Getting people to even view your image is next to impossible on sites such as Fine Art America and Etsy without resorting to social media bots, and I kind of disagree with this.
So, I'm wondering about perhaps branching out to stock photography, specifically Alamy or Getty, as I have a MASSIVE back catalogue.
Now, I have uploaded a couple of my poorer images to Alamy to get a feel for the waters, but I'm wondering whether it might be best just to go to Getty.
However, getting information back about Getty is near impossible.
Could someone please outline:
-
How much does a photographer get paid for each image? (I know this varies, but is the top bracket greater, than say, Alamy?)
-
What are the Collections, and how are you assigned to one? Does this mean I am better submitting my best on the first submission? Do different collections pay more/less?
-
Is Getty more selective vs Alamy?
-
Do I retain the right to use my own image to print gift cards/prints, etc?
-
Pseudonames/Aliases as opposed to real name for sign up? ie. can I start with my photography name (Almos Lataan) to begin with, or must I use my real name? (Alamy allows pseudonames)
-
What is the tag competition like vs Alamy?
-
Can I sell Rights Managed on both? I know Alamy allows this, but is Getty exclusive?
-
How do people get on Getty Prestige?
-
Any other image rights concerns?
