Are the knights done for?

So, we've reached the end of the season now, and I can say that I've seen a lot of players abandon the knight faction during this season. The knights are quite outnumbered in comparison to the other factions, but what does this mean for future Faction Wars? Are the knights ever going to win another Faction Wars season, or are they hopeless due to the low amount of players? I don't know if war assets maybe get adjusted for this.
