Nora's Phoenix Tattoo

I've seen a lot of people mention the Wu-Tang tattoo but not a lot of discussion about the interesting symbolism of it. She ultimately choose to get it because it looked like a phoenix. The phoenix has a huge amount of symbolism in literature and folklore, about rebirth out of the ashes.

She literally covered up a tattoo of her children's names (losing them the lowest point in her life) with a symbol of rebirth. Further, interestingly they choose a symbol related to fire/ashes while she contemplates this radiation treatment.

Is it possibly foreshadowing for the transformation she goes through during her trip in Australia?
