Worth Upgrading T430?

Not really in the market to buy a laptop just yet but I am wondering if it is worth upgrading a laptop to last another 2 years. Most of my use will be revolved around programming. I am hoping that the engineering work will be done on campus computers.

Current specs

• 500GB HDD
• 8GB RAM
• I5 3320M 2.6 GHZ
• 1600 X 900 Resolution

Overall it's in good condition, just reinstalled new hinges on it. I paid around $400 for it I think back in 2013, I got a good deal on it used. It's fulfilled its service thus far. They're going for about $200 on eBay.

I am considering dumping another $120 dollars into.

• Battery is shot, lasts 30 minutes, I could get one for $40 that would be OEM
• Change the 500gb HD out into a 250GB SSD. Move the 500GB Into the rom drive as backup storage. $80 on amazon.

Would this laptop give another 2 years of service to me reliably?
