Refinishing a White Board

Long story short, I've got an old white board with things written on it for years. I thoroughly cleaned it and some of the finish came off. Now when I write things it doesn't come off very easy at all.

Right now I'm planing to buy a small container of white board paint and just re-coat it. But I'm wondering if anyone else has any other ideas that might work.
