If the human race survives long enough to the point where the sun will expand to engulf Earth, will humankind argue about the expansion like we do now with climate science?

I can totally see humans procrastinating about finding an off world home until the last possible moment, and some faction would be up in arms about alarmist sun expansion propaganda.
