If North Korea declared war on South Korea, or vice versa, what would you want the British government to do?
This seems to be a divisive topic among the people I've spoken to. Some are in favour of a full military commitment for the UK to follow the US and South Korea. Others have suggested the British government limit their contribution to humanitarian support. I've been told by more than a few people that they wouldn't want the UK to involve itself in the war. A few have even suggested condemning the US if they declare war.
I've heard some people compare inaction to the appeasement which allowed Hitler to come to power. But I've also heard people compare following the US into Korea with Iraq. Some have said that the status quo cannot continue because of the continuing harm which comes to North Korean citizens, and the increasing range of North Korea's weapons. Others have asserted that a war would result in far more casualties than the status quo.
The opinions have been wide ranging and most have been pretty passionate. So I think it would be interesting to see British opinions outside of subreddits like r/worldnews, which are dominated by American opinions. What position would you want the UK to take?
