dps low.. new player

So I've only been playing a week or so and I'm at level 24 DK.. I've been trying to do dungeons and seen people at my level soloing them and grinding spots and killing packs of 10-20 enemies at once.. I'm not rushing to 50 but would like to be able to that much damage and be able to survive.. any advice?
