Ended up picking T470 over T470s
Lots of reasons really but here's how I finally made the decision:
The way I see it the only reason you would pick the T470s is if the WQHD (2560 x 1440) is really important to you because I don't see it offered on the T470. Otherwise, a comparably equipped T470s will cost about 50% more than the same T470 especially if you do your own upgrades on RAM and SSD.
The T470 price is artificially inflated a bit because for some reason HD upgrades cost double what they do on the T470s. But I ordered mine with the basic 7200 RPM drive and will upgrade it to a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD myself.
Also planning on a 32GB RAM upgrade which you can't even do on the T470s (not that I need it but why not).
Otherwise, the graphic cards are the same, the keyboard is slightly better on the T470, the size/weight difference is really not noticeable for me (3.48 lbs vs. 2.9 lbs).
And let's not forget the removeable battery and ease up upgrade.
My other personal reason is that I really like to pull the drive out and clone the whole thing once a month or so.
