Tried to Make a Realistic Hearthstone Card

I tried to keep many tenets of Hearthstone card design in this card:

  • The name and art have absolutely nothing to do with the effect

  • powerful_1_drop.meme

  • "Making it a rare balances it in arena"

  • On paper it looks absolutely broken, and like it will be a massive problem card of a set, but will most likely not be only moderately powerful, and not be worth a card slot. But, it will still blow people out on the rare occasion everything goes perfectly (mulligan it into getting it on turn 1) and, while "fun" for the one who accomplished it, it will feel like absolute bullshit on the receiving end.

  • Obscure synergy that will never matter, pull a 3/3 from your Desert Camel!

Actually, you can never draw the same card from your mulligan, only your other copy of it.

But you still can draw it turn 1.

... I feel like I've definitely redrawn legendaries or two copies of a card I mulliganed. Are you sure? Source?

I'm gonna call shenanigans on that still being true. That post is 4 yrs old and I'd have to go through my tracker data but I'm sure there is an instance where it has happened.

" The name and art have absolutely nothing to do with the effect "

I don't agree at all with that

Also isn't that basically a slight variation on Raptor Hatchling ?

I like it! I would capitalize "Attack" and end the text with a period. Also, I found art that better matches the style of the expansion.

Vicious War Raptor

The starting hand UI says "Keep or Replace cards". I checked.

Text inconsistency/oversights/general lack of QA/proofreading are also key parts of realistic Hearthstone card design, so that's what I'm going with to excuse my oversight on attack.

Also I only used the ungoro symbol because it's a dinosaur, I feel the art matches the name better, as it is a raptor in a war, going to war. The one you got looks much better in the frame though, as well as yours' text box looking much nicer with gain in the bottom line.

Seems about right :D

I think the card is just too good, because of the stat line, a 1 cost beast 1/3 is pretty powefull, it is a very interesting design, and would be cool with more 1 drop interactions!

The problem with this card is that it's good by default (1 mana 1/3) but has a pure RNG chance to be OP (1 mana 3/3)

As in, if I send it back?

That's really not that strong. I want my one drops early, and you're telling me to throw it into the topdeck pile. Eh. Maybe in a few rare cases, it'd be strong, but it wouldn't show up in ranked play.

Could be decent in arena.

While I don't disagree that the card could be broken in a certain niche circumstance (and neither does the author if you bothered to read) you've:

  • given a shit explanation as to why you think this card is broken
  • been a complete ass about your shitty analysis

Add something interesting to this discussion or go away.
