When they started carpeting wheel wells, I realized NVH is the future and the majority of people are whiny bitches so we have to put foam in the tires now is not suprising.
There's a squeak in my dash when it's -40 outside.
time to trade it in
And tell your friends and family it is the worst car they ever owned.
Nvh? Well for people who don't want tire noise in sure it helps eliminate that
Dont buy off road or shit tires then
Agreed
Agreed, comforttreads are damn silent and comfy for a goodyear.
Or performance tires...
I'm amazed by how loud offroad tires can be on pavement
Hearing tire noise before the exhaust on a truck driving past is kinda weird
When an average car costs $35k your damn right people will bitch about nvh.
And here I am putzing around in my 20yo xj with zero fucks given to nvh
15 year old f150 here. No muffler, just changed ujoint today, bitch ain't quiet, and it shakes every now and then because of off roading. Fuckin A this ain't got nvh reduction.
I've got a '92 XJ. If she doesn't get all dramatic and noisy when I start it, something's wrong.
Honestly mine isn't that bad. Minimal knock or lifter tick, no rear end howl, normal starting noises,
My at51s are mild for noise...
But the engine sounds like an engine, the trans whines in first and second, like an unsynchronized gear should, it shakes at 70, and still turns 20 ish mpg
30 year old Toyota pickup here.
Can hear the buzz off exhaust leaks while driving. Engine goes "click click click click click" while idling.
IFS bushings old and solid as a rock.
Technically that's flocking, not carpeting.
#What the flock
You're flocking kidding me!

We have these as standard on 22'' range rover wheels, either continental silents or pirelli's. As a dealer we aren't allowed to fix these, small nail in the tyre? That will be £350 please
If you own a new Range Rover, $350 shouldn't even make you blink.
It also saves you from the inevitable, "may car is slightly louder since you fixed the tire" comebacks.
You would be surprised how many people complain. Some just don't realise that just because you can buy a car doesn't mean you can afford it
Just because they can afford the Range Rover doesn't mean they'll be fine with handing over $350. My sister works some rebate job and people with loads of money will file for rebates of $0.50 or less.
Its not the 500 dollars a month thats the problem its the 500 down i dont have. Smile and walk away. Same story with elderly Cadillac owners, i can afford a 99k escalade but im on a fixed income u got any cheap tires?

Why not go into details? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to know what major issues to watch out for.
If exporting to very hot regions (like the Saudi peninsula), I bet that extra 1" of insulation just inside the tread area makes already hot tires get even hotter. In that part of the world, they need special tire compounds already, because the air is often 110F (43C), and road surfaces can easily be 140F (60C) or higher.
When I was over there last year it was 130f during the day and 105f at night.
Sounds close to Phoenix during the summer.
a) fuck that
b) happy cakeday
Certain Land Rovers have this too, along with a sticky layer underneath that I'm told is supposed to seal a puncture if you just pull the object out. The shop I work for elected not to take responsibility for the only one I've seen so far and sent it back to the dealership.
This tire had a three thin lines of glue to keep the foam on the tire. To repair the tire you have to take a chunk out of the foam to get to the back of the tire to patch it. Pain in the ass
How thin? I'd be concerned with the foam coming loose and throwing the balance off.
That sounds like a terrible idea.
I've seen these on a few Tesla tires
1 inch layer of foam on inside of tire . called quiet comfort from goodyear. Had to cut away 2 by 2 inch piece to get to the nail that punctured the tire
It is literally the wort thing ever to come across next to tyre panda when fixing a puncture. Im usally like fuck it nowdays and just use the grinder then clean off the tool after.
Tyre panda?
That green or creamy colored liquid that they use as emergency sealant for cars that dont have a spare.
We Americans call that fix-a-flat, hence the confusion.
I deal with these foam tires all the time, and I still really dislike them. I get the concept, but it just makes repairs so much more of a hassle.
The fuck? Well, at least it's not PAX.
