Respect Mako

##Bio

Backstory

Mako was born in 152 AG(post-airbender genocide) to San, an Earth Kingdom man, and Naoki, a Fire Nation woman. Mako is a firebender and the older brother of Bolin, an earthbender.

When Mako was young, he and Bolin witnessed his parents murdered by a firebender mugger. Now living on streets, the brothers ran small scams to survive, even working for the Triple Threat Triads for some time. Wanting to forgo this life, Mako and his brother met Toza, a retired pro-bender. With his help, Mako and Bolin joined the Fire Ferrets, which Mako later became captain of. Mako eventually met Avatar Korra, allowing her to join the Fire Ferrets. They quickly became close friends, and later romantic partners for a short period.

Personality

Mako is usually a calm and collected individual. He is known for being "cool under fire" and his fighting style reflects this. Mako is also notorious for being skeptical and slow to trust others. But underneath his distrustful exterior Mako is compassionate, caring, and fierce to protect the ones he loves.

##Bending

Firebending

As a firebender, Mako is capable of generating and manipulating flames to his will. It is generally a very offensive art, focusing on sharp punches and acrobatic kicks. Firebending is slightly stronger during the day than at night, as it is powered by the sun. Mako has shown to be a very skilled and powerful bender, capable of contending with and even defeating master-tier benders such as Ming-Hua.

• [Power/Control] Helps propel a plane to takeoff

• [Power/Range] From an airplane, creates a massive line of fire

• [Power] Shoots powerful blasts down at a military camp

• [Range/Speed] Sends incredibly fast fire missiles at Amon

• [Defense] Uses firebending defensively to block Ming-Hua's attack

• [Skill/Reaction Speed] Bends an explosion. (Note that he did not react to the explosion itself, but the propagating flames)

• [Skill/Control] Wall runs with firebending

• [Skill?] Sneezes fire

• [Combat Skill] Skillfully defeats two pro-benders at once

• [Heat] Can melt thick metal bars after a period of time

• [Fire Heat] Firebends at a furnace, making a hot tub erupt in steam

Mako is also capable of propelling himself with fire, an advanced firebending technique. Only a handful of benders in the series have demonstrated the technique outside of Sozin's Comet.

• [Skill] Flies up to the knee of Kuvira's mech

• For reference, the knee is several stories high

Lightning

Special firebenders are capable of generating lightning, by separating the positive and negative chi in their body. Mako learned this skill from Lightning Bolt Zolt. Mako is capable of shooting it off extremely quickly and can vary the strength of the shock. However, he does not kill with it except as a last resort.

• [Strength/Lightningbending Skill] Uses lightningbending despite being bloodbent by Amon

• [Lightning] Generates lightning at the spirit core. (Note that this is an impressive feat, as it shows that Mako is capable of circulating large amounts of lightning for a long period of time)

• [Redirection] Redirects the electricity from a mech hook

##Physical Feats

Humans in the Avatarverse have been shown to be stronger and more durable than real-life humans, and Mako is no exception.

Strength

• [Strength] Sends a grown man flying by throwing him over his shoulder.

• [Strength/Skill] Throws a soldier to the ground

Durability

• [Durability] Hit by a flying door and is only briefly stunned

• [Durability] Tanks several rock discs to the body and is unharmed

• [Durability] Thrown into a door by Ming-Hua

• [Durability?] Gets hit by the force of P'lis explosion

• It's possible that Mako used firebending to lessen the force but it is unclear.

• [Durability] Gets hit in the chest by Unalaq's water stream

• Note that Unalaq's attacks are very strong, easily capable of shattering rock on impact

Speed and Agility

• [Agility] Dodges attacks from a mech

• [Agility] Backflips off of a wall to attack Ming-Hua

• [Reaction Speed/Agility] Flips over firebending.

• [Reaction Speed] Dodges metal strips

• [Reaction Speed/Agility] Evades attacks from 3 benders at once.

• [Reaction Speed/Agility] Rapidly evades and counters multiple bending attacks

Other

Mako is rather intelligent and a good detective. He deduced Varrick's involvement in the embassy bombings and was crucial in exposing Ai Wei as a member of the Red Lotus. Mako is also a certified Republic City Police Officer.
