So, bit conflicted about this.
The first point, is so far, all that has happened is she has been accused, and a investigation is just that, investigating if something wrong has been done.
That said, it has now been going on for several weeks (the investigation), and previously the SNP dismissed two MP's who were also under investigation before any charges were proven.
So it's a bit of a weird one, is she being favourably treated by the SNP leadership because she is fairly high (future leader potential) on the leadership rung, or is it because of some other reason.
Either way, bit of a weird one.
No, she isn't accused. She has strict liability as a partner for any other partner's miscreance. This is the same two year old story as first appeared around the 2015 election.
I believe that was the HMRC case.
While this may be relating to the same underlying issue, it is a new story and investigation.
The Law Society of Scotland is not a fast organisation, this has been ongoing since the firm went tits up - it's automatic for the Law Society to open a case after a firm fails.
Lawyers subject to this type of investigation are not barred from practising while these cases are open.
This is a hit piece, pure and simple. She isn't being investigated herself and it has no bearing on her fitness as an MP.
future leader potential
Tasmina is absolutely no leader potential. Her voice alone is like nails on a chalkboard to some. She would be a very poor choice by the SNP, as a figurehead.
well, its not like they can elect mhari black to leader yet, she's only been on the bench on year. [edit: /s, cause some people can't tell anymore]
It's hardly like she is the only other candidate.
do i really need to /s?
(i mean, she is destined for it, but i wasn't serious about her being the only other viable candidate)
Why is she considered leadership potential...I think she handles herself in parliament and interviews terribly, and is a bit of a careerist. She sent an application to every constituency to represent for the snp, signing up just as snp were becoming popular...
Why is she considered leadership potential...
WTF? I think you'll find this is news to everyone, you are quite literally the first person I've seen suggest this.
The short answer is no. The long answer is, definitely not.
Oh god I hope she isn't seen as a future high flyer. She's a nightmare. If I recall rightly she's flip flopped her way through most of the political parties and I'm not convinced the snp for her is anything other than another step towards more personal power. I may be wrong but I have deep suspicions about her motivations and political beliefs, in that I'm not sure she has any fixed points, more a serious of flexible options depending how the wind is blowing.
While I'm not her biggest fan (I think she comes across as trying too hard and it's a bit grating), the notion that she flip flops through the parties isn't entirely accurate.
She was a long term Conservative activist and candidate from an early age to 2000 when she left the Tories (in disgust), then sailed into and out of Labour and into the SNP in the same year. She's been with the SNP since, so hardly a flip flopper (except for that one year where she couldn't make her mind up). We are allowed to change political allegiances as we go through life and our opinions and outlook change. I'd be more concerned if she chopped and changed every couple of years.
I also remember that terrible clip from a movie she helped do, arranging a cameo role for Alex Salmond as a ghost in the early 2000s, so I doubt this is a case of Wikipedia being unreliable.
Edit: the Labour membership thing is a bit murkier reading some of the links from that. She campaigned with them, and may have joined the party in the mid 90s according to that, seemingly in parallel (?!) with her Conservative membership? Anyhow, she's now been with the SNP for near 17 years. How long does she serve before she stops being a flip flopper and an opportunist? Also, note, a lot of the controversy about her flip flopping seemed to be press stories thrown out there by the Conservative party at the time she defected to the SNP, so there may have been a touch of sour grapes.
I'll grant that media may have spun it quite hard but she wasn't just a Tory member but a candidate, you yourself admit she tries too hard and its grating. I'd say it's grating because you know she's trying too hard to vie for power.
Her actions although some time ago show me at least that she is more concerned with power than with politics, I may be completely wrong and I hope I am but as I said I have deep suspicions about her actual motivations and I very much doubt that there is any concern with public service in there but plenty of seeking of personal power.

Reeks a bit. SMEAR.
Just before an election, what are the odds of that eh?
Tasmina has been being investigated for various things on and off for a long time now...
What are the allegations?
Its the same investigation that HMRC already cleared her of.

One of the partners appears to have done something which led to the firm going tits up, so, as all partners share liability, she may end up with a consequence from the Law Society.
They're serious.
Evidence?
Or even that they relate to her specifically. Because pretty much the only thing we do know is that it is not her that is being investigated, she's just on the hook for any attributed losses to clients because she was a partner.
The evidence is right there. The Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife, Murdo Fraser, said it.
