[5/18/2017 12:00 PM PST] IAMA with Matt Taylor @ Numenta

Hi, this is our first series of "Ask me Anything" with people and companies working in Artificial Intelligence space. This is your opportunity to ask your questions about the daily grind of AI work and research.

We are joined by Matt Taylor with Numenta. They are taking a different approach to Artificial Intelligence by trying to create a computational model of the neocortex. Please leave your questions for Matt below and we will begin our IAMA at 12 PM PST on 5/18/2017.

I'm Matt Taylor and I've worked at Numenta for over five years. I am their Open Source Community Manager and author of HTM School. I teach people about HTM Theory (more on HTM at http://numenta.org. I've become sort of an HTM Evangelist, but I was actually hired as a front-end engineer by Numenta to work on streaming web charts.

Before that I worked at Yahoo! on JavaScript frameworks.

Before that I worked on the Grails web framework at G2One.

Before that I pulled a bunch of software engineering gigs in St. Louis, MO.

Before that I worked for SAIC running war simulations in FORTRAN77.

Before that I worked in the US Air Force as an intelligence analyst.

Before that I worked in a plastics factory with a lot of Guatemalan immigrant workers.

Before that I worked as a farm worker digging potatoes and slopping pigs.

Before that things aren't really worth mentioning.

Also, I love my wife of 14 years and my two creative kids. We live in central California.

Ask me anything.
