My feedback after 12hours Playtime (Minor Spoilers)

Spoiler

So I must say the game is really great. The combat feels good, the level design is good and the game is challenging. I like the diversity in items, the cell system, the gold/shop/golden door mechanic is well thought out. The enchantments on weapons/skills are cool. Barely any weapon/skill feel useless. I like teleporter enabling fast and smooth traveling.

But of course the game in the early access phase has some unbalanced things, too. I just voice my opinion, so dont hate me too much.

Time doors are underwhelming for their effort. Once you get the blueprints, the time doors are pretty useless. The Secret doors are also very hard for just one item.

The whip is overpowered, i just finished game just because of this weapon+dmg buff. Super fast, autoaiming, long range, infinite ammo, oneshotting everything(with buff) and air hover. It made the graveyard so trivial. On the other hand some weapons are really bad. The fire torrent and lightning bolt have awful dmg for their casting animation. Shields feel pretty bad since you can dodge or just stay on range; high risk, low reward (since it takes up a wepaon slot).

The bows and melee weapons feel well balanced though. Same with most spells, though some are obivously a bit stronger like cluster bomb or death orb.

I also have some suggestion to make. I miss some defensive things in this game, we only have amulet effects as damage reduction and 1%life lifesteal on weapon enchantment. I would like to see some defense skills like summoning a wall for a few seconds that blocks enemies and projectiles (yes also the mages ones). A "Back in Time" spell would also sound fun where you get placed where you have been some seconds ago.

Overall the game was worth every penny and Im eager to see new content and balance patches. I know im short on words, because english is not my first language, but thank you for reading my post.

There's a regular whip

There is the electric whip, which is what you described and another weapon just called "Whip". It attacks in a straight line and does a crit if you hit with it at max range.

the dmg buff is the op one, not the whip. the whip is a pretty mediocre item if not bad itself. the only good thing about it is the autoaim. but the dmg buff is just completely broken in its current state. you can 1 shot everything with it with any weapon combined. and god bless you if you have 2 dmg buffs, because they stack.. you can 1 shot bosses. you can kill the last boss even without going through any phases

They don't stack, it's been tested. However having two allows you to have 100% uptime.

They don't stack. I've tested it myself and the streamer in the clip you linked also tested it later on in the stream.

hmm, its weird then. it felt like they stack for me. nevermind, my bad. but 100% uptime is just as broken :D

I don't really understand how people think the shields are underpowered. If you're good at timing you can negate any attack without having to move and do damage in the process, not to mention stun/force shield/+dmg after parry effects. They make so many enemies trivial to deal with.

Personally I dont see a good scenario for shield use.

If I have a 1v1 scenario against a mob, the dodge'n'hit style is sufficient. If I face a group of enemies I rather rely on range/AoE. The shield takes up a slot, where I rather have a bow, which is much more useful than a "better dodge".

If it works for you, ok, but I personally dont see a legitimate scenario I would pick a shield over other weapons.

The bows are generally pretty underwhelming to me (besides the Infantry Bow which is almost a melee weapon). I don't use them very much. Pretty much the only time where I find ranged attacks really useful are against the chain dudes in the Graveyard. Whenever I do decide to try out a bow, I just find myself running into melee range and hitting stuff anyway. It's much faster and way more fun imo. The best part of the game is its melee combat, and using a shield emphasizes that aspect of the game while using a bow detracts from it.
