Help with Ethereum Name Service
Hello. I'm looking for a little help on an issue I encountered using the ens.domains registrar. I'm using the web app and metamask. I put a bid in on a name, and the transaction went through ok, and the page displays that I bid on that name. I went to the homepage and noticed on the stream of new names that a name I was watching had entered the bidding phase. So I checked the name on etherscan, and it has my wallet as placing the bid that I put for the first name on this second name. So now I feel that when I go to reveal that first bid, the bid file will not match where the ether was sent to and I will not be able to reveal my bid, and thus recover any funds. Is this a known issue, or is there any workaround? I really would hate to lose that ether because of a bug in the system. Thanks.

Every bid includes 3 new auctions, at least two of which are picked randomly. So your bid will show you as opening an auction that's random and has nothing to do with the name you actually wanted to bid on.
Thanks for your reply Nick. So it is normal for this bid on an existing auction to also open up another auction as a disguise? On that second name if I search it on etherscan, it shows that I started that bidding with the same amount that I bid on the first name (the one I wanted). I only noticed this because it showed on the front page feed, and I was curious who started it, and it shows my address. It would be quite the coincidence that one of the random bids went to an name that I was watching (available, but not yet open for bids), which is why I thought it might have been a bug on the web app. Sorry if this is confusing, and thanks for your help!
Yes.
It wouldn't be much of a disguise if Etherscan could tell you weren't really bidding on it!
Thanks for you calming my anxiety this morning! :)
