I believe the endgame will be supernatural because...

the nature of the Sudden Departure is inherently supernatural. I think the show has proven at this point that no science can answer the question of why they departed. So, I have to conclude that whatever is happening to Kevin & crew is not 100% due to batshit craziness.

My point here is that I think there are some aspects of this show that can't be explained. I do believe that most of the characters probably have some degree of mental issues going on, but I don't think that's the whole of it.

No the whole of it is this is not a show about the "departure".. the characters care about the "why".. but the show is focused on how they deal with never fully knowing the "why".

I understand that and appreciate that it's what the show is about. I'm not saying we are going to get a "why". I meant that I think the end will have some supernatural elements to it. I understand that it's about the characters

Ok I could see that. I could see Kevin or another character in that hotel/purgatory place again. But I'm sure as viewers we'll still be left wondering "how was that possible"

I dunno, sounds like the God of the Gaps argument to me. "you can't explain this therefor god/supernatural".

Also that would make the scientists frauds, they don't know where the people went but know the types of energies involved.

All that said we may never know what happened exactly.

I think thats whats awesome about this show is it that it typifies the human condition in that we (our brains) are hardwired to HAVE to know "why" and we live in a random world. So they have taken one event thats the essence of random and plopped people in it and almost just watched. I also like that there are some questions that answered in future episodes that give you that "ohhhhhh, thats why moment" and others that are never answered that leave it up to individual interpretation.
