[Story] pt.25. Telling tales

Morning is a slow affair, Ysolda knocks on the door, she's come to pick up her tusk, and we get out into town a little later than usual. We make the usual rounds then head on up to Dragonsreach, we're up to 7,700 Septims at this point. Not bad for a month or so.
After waiting for an audience, we're paid a derisory 100 Septims, for the bandit bounty. And we ask for the alchemy nook to be turned into a child's room. He tells me it will take time to arrange, but it will be done.

It's early afternoon by the time we get out, so we decide on a walk in the wild, there may be game to be had, but if not then it at least gets us out.
Or at least that was the plan before we got talking to the priest in the market square, turns out he runs the local halls of the dead, and he's lost an amulet. Sounds like another good deed for the alibi. The priest says he'll wait at the market until be get the amulet
The guy with the singed face they brought in yesterday is laid out on the slab as we walk in, it's fairly well lit and quite well decorated, not at all what I was expecting. There is a female priest near the altar to our left, so we talk to her. Turns out she's a priest of Kynareth, not Arkay, and she's doing research on the dead, all things considered she's a bit odd. We wait for Sofia to finish praying at the altar before pressing on.
We're jumped by three skeletons in the first room alone, Vilja bags two, I take one, they're definitely more aggressive and mobile than the average dead person. The amulet isn't here so we drop down to the next level. Where there's nothing to see, and it's beginning to spook Vilja who wants to leave. However we find the amulet behind the next door. Mission accomplished, time to wander back up I reckon.
Sofia is once again attending the altar, though given Arkay is all about birth and death I can see her interest. We give the priest his amulet, he gives us 15 Septims, so I give him a donation of 100 Septims in return. He's greatly pleased by that, and he'll remember me.
By the time we get out it's pitch black outside. So it's probably time for beer. Not that we've particularly earned it today, but who's counting?

We go back to the huntsmen as it's closer to home, and it's a quiet night for the most part, except for Vilja again jumping onto the bar to dance, and subsequently kicking all the archery gear laid out on it onto the floor. That didn't go down too well with the more mercantile of the elven brothers. No sign of the dancing sisters either, I'm sure they'll be back at some point long before we have need of dancing girls. Vilja is interested in what I did before we met, so I tell her. Her eyes go wide when I mention banditry and prison time, and she congratulates Sofia when I tell her that the reason we brought her on-board is because Sofia is pregnant. That and the reason we're going to Eldergleam in the first place. She is anxious to get on with that but I tell here too cool her heels, unless she wants to go up against Hagravens alone. Her face goes white at the mention of that. She is far too naive in the ways of the world that girl. Still beggars cannot be choosers.

We stop to look at the moons which are high and bright as we leave the inn. All things considered Whiterun is a great place to live. Though we will have to work out what's going on with that house yesterday, I wonder if the denizens of the thieves hideout can tell us anything. I mention this to Sofia upon going to bed, and she's so used to public indecency that she didn't think anything off it, other than I was spoiling a good time & free booze. Still, that can wait.
Time for sleep.
