I need help planning a trip for a CS event

I'd really appreciate any and all help :) it would be very nice, I'm kind of a newbie to esports.

Okay so here's my problem, I live in a very rural area on the east coast of Canada where there's really no LAN events or anything but I'm really into esports. I'd love to get the opportunity to go see a big event like a major or IEM.

Every year I take a trip to California around October or November, last year went I went I just missed IEM oakland mostly because I hadn't hear about it in time to plan my trip.

So my questions are, is IEM Oakland a yearly thing? Or is there other events in California similar around that time? And when would I be able to find out the dates for that or to bee tickets?

Any help is appreciated, thank you very much :)
