Something that might help people playing on pads re: combo execution. Slide, don't tap.
I finally installed the game this morning on my Xbox 1, and hopped immediately into practice mode with Jin. After resigning myself to the fact that I don't think I'll be turning Wind Hook Fist into its electric form any time soon, I figured I'd try out some combos.
It took me 10 botched attempts at the Kazama Five Hit Combo (1,3,2,1,4/X/A/Y/X/B) before I realized what I was doing wrong. Instead of tapping the buttons in sequence quickly, the timing worked best if I slid my thumb from one button to the next rather than tapping. Now, given the positioning of the buttons, sometimes this resulted in me grabbing my opponent rather than outputting the combo, so it's not fool-proof. But I think those errors were more my crap manual dexterity than anything else.
If someone else on a pad has a more accurate diagnosis of what I might've been doing wrong, I'd love to hear it. But that was the way I found most effective for reducing my margin of error.
