Do you happen to know a retired couple from Berkeley who is currently traveling in Belgium and The Netherlands? I would like to tell them it made my day to meet them!

Hello Berkeley people!

This is an unusual post here... I just posted this on r/berkeley and a kind redditor suggested I try this sub instead as it has more non-students! I'm hoping to find people I met yesterday in Brussels, and they're from Berkeley. I thought I might try Reddit! Whether you know them or not, this story might make you smile!

Yesterday, around 11:30, as I got off the train in Brussels, I ran into an American retired couple, looking for directions. As I'm bilingual I helped them. They were looking for the touristic bus, but I said that before that, they had to see Brussels' Grand Place (the main square), only accessible on foot. So I took them there, and they were amazed by the beauty of the place, then to the Manneken Pis (the statue of a little boy peeing, Google it it's funny!). I gave them a few tips of things to do, things to eat and places to see. I talked with them and told them a little bit about Belgium. Sadly, I had to leave after like 15 minutes as I had an exam (I'm a medical student) less than an hour later, so I had to catch the subway to get to the edge of town. The wife asked her husband to take a picture of her with me, we said goodbye and I was on my way.

It made me genuinely happy to help them out, and I could see how happy they were too. It didn't take me lots of time to do, brightened my day, and I think that being in a good mood helped for my exam!

So I was kinda hoping that a friend/kid/grandkid of them would be a redditor, see this, and be able to tell them they found their Belgian "tour guide"! I just wanna let them know that I'm sorry I had to leave so soon, but that this encounter made my day and that I would be glad to exchange some emails!

What do I know about them? Not much sadly. They're from Berkeley. They're on a 2 week boat trip in the Netherlands and Belgium. They are flying back to California tomorrow (June 4th). They were staying in Bruges but came to Brussels for the day! Sorry, I don't have names or anything else... I know it's not much, it's only enough if you're actually close to them... but at least I tried!

I hope I can succeed in my quest if one of you know them! If not, I was glad to share this story with all of you. Sometimes, you can make someone's day with small actions! You will help them, make them happy, and you will be happy from seeing them happy!
