Varus over Ashe?

In what matchup or team comp would you pick Varus over Ashe? Ashe feels like she trades better, global ult, vision eagle, and slows. I don't quite understand what Varus offers over Ashe except a long range Q.

Then if you want poke I imagine you'd pick Ezreal over Varus.

Any advice is appreciated.
