Need advice on what show to see

Hey r/broadway, so in August my girlfriend and I are coming to NYC to see Phish. They aren't really her jam (heh), but she's being a trooper and coming along anyway. She's a big musical fan, so I want to surprise her with tickets to a Broadway show while we're there. The only problem is I haven't been to Broadway since I was in HS so I don't know anything about the currently running shows. Just briefly googling "best Broadway shows" turns up Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Groundhog Day, and the Comet one. There's a bunch of others too but I feel like those would be the 4 she's most interested in.

I looked up some prices and Evan Hansen is way far out of my price range, which is a bummer because I remember her telling me how much she wanted to see it back when we saw La La Land. It looks like Comet ends before August which also sucks because she loves Josh Groban (okay I love Josh Groban too I mean come on). I was able to find affordable tickets for Come From Away and Groundhog Day, but like, back mezzanine. Are Broadway shows usually more like, "no bad seat in the house" situations, or is it one of those situations where you can barely see the stage?

Sorry for the long, rambling post! Any advice for a newbie is much appreciated! Thanks!
