Reviews of alllllll the samples.

I went a little nuts the past couple weeks and have had TONS of samples to work through. None of these were duds - they all smelled good, but some just weren't as loved as I thought they might be.

Fyrinnae Ghost Bat - French vanilla intertwined with a little turmeric and a slight air of freshly dried tobacco leaves. Oh, I wanted to love this one so bad. Tobacco is one of my favorite notes. I think if the vanilla hadn't been the French variety, it may have worked. As it stands, it really overpowered everything else in the blend and pulled really plasticky and artificial on me. Destashing.

Fyrinnae In The Hall of the Mountain King - Rich, warm resins enveloped by woodsmoke, a touch of greenery, and subtle vanilla. Anther one I wanted to love, but just didn't work for me. This one wasn't bad... but I didn't get anything in the notes. It went a little soapy and smelled mostly like high-end shampoo. I smelled generically "nice"... but I like my perfume to pack a little more punch. Destashing.

Fyrinnae Tarnished Crown - Smoldering hardwood, dark vanilla swirled with smoky resins, and a hint of black pepper. HOO BOY. THIS IS A GOOD ONE. I love smoke notes, but occasionally they don't play nice with me and I end up smelling like a BBQ or an ash tray. Not so with TC. The smoke note is perfect and blends so well with the vanilla and resins, it's like wrapping up in a blanket next to a campfire... with a super hot fallen king, obviously. Buying a FS of this.

S92 Huntsman - Cardamom and vanilla infused coffee, fossilized amber, Agarwood (oud), tilled soil This smelled VERY close to Cotton Mather, one of my all-time favorite scents. The only real difference to me was a green note - I think the soil? This one smelled better in the bottle than it did on me, but I'll probably use up the sample. It went on sharp and never quite mellowed out like CM does. Keeping, but probably won't look for a FS.

DC Hellbender - Lovingly brewed in the seismic dark, Hellbender features notes of raw ginger, toasty amber, saffron and deep, deep vanilla This is deep and dark and somehow summery. I think I get that from the ginger. Something about it reminds me of Herne and the Wild Hunt? I'm not sure what, but I dig it. Keeping my dram and will probably look for a FS in swaps.

S92 Moirai - black fig, black and red tea leaves, ginger root, coconut milk, papyrus. Probably my second favorite out of the bunch. Spicy and figgy and smells exactly like I think a Greek goddess would. I don't do fruity or summery often, but this is a summer fragrance I can get behind. Will probably buy FS.

S92 Nereids - surf and shoreline, driftwood, dried coconut shell, pistachio, sweet sea grasses, salt. Aquatics are not usually my thing, even though I love salt notes, but there's something rich and creamy about this that smells more like a hazy memory of the ocean rather than the actual ocean. I don't know if I'll go for a FS perfume, but I'm planning to buy the texture spray and hair serum in this scent.

SS Smokewood Apiary - Smoked Honey, Creamed Honey, Beeswax, Amber, Wooden Frames, Ginger & Vanilla - Another one I wanted so badly to love, because every single listed note is something I enjoy, but all I got was wood and beeswax. I smelled a little like an unscented candle. Destashing.
