Is it just me, or is "off meta" becoming more common than the meta itself?
So to start, this is not a post flaming off-meta or off-meta mains. In fact, in the last couple months I've noticed strong push for "Off-meta equality" so to speak, and while I've been scared by many a deadweight Symettra or Torbjorn and many a 12 year old Bastion, I've learned to at least hold my judgment until I see them play, and I've learned to respect the pick. Why?
Because I went 3-7 in my placements, the worst I've ever done. I've bounced up and down gold for the past season and a half and finished last seaaon at 2400 but I noticed I was playing placements with people a bit lower than that, more on the edge of 2000. It definitely showed, as there was a lot less comms and a lot more DPS picks. As for the other guys, damn near every enemy team I faced had at least 3 of these 6 characters:
Junkrat
Hanzo
Torbjorn
Symmetra
Bastion
Mei
Didn't matter if it was offense, defense, KoTH, Assult, Payload, Hybrid, whatever. It was ridiculous. It was awful. Here I am, the only one on comms, trying to organize some sort of push and I'm watching my Junkrat literally walk straight onto the point by himself and get obliterated by 8 different turrets at once. I couldnt believe it. The point was Idiot proof.
And this is what I saw almost every game. To be fair, it worked better defensively than it did offensively and it wasn't always the comp they used the entire game, but even so. It tore me and my solo que teammates apart.
So what the hell do I do about it?
Seriously, I can't find a way around it. Not in solo que. People don't listen enough and theres a flood of low level people who probably just bought the game and don't know any better. On a good day I can carry a half decent team but not through a fucking tower defense game. I'm at a bit of a loss.
