Starting again after hiatus

Hi guys! Some months ago, just before the release of Gen2, I stopped playing due to some serious health issues. I want now to start playing again, but I feel like I missed A LOT. Is anyone here kind enough to recap the major stuff I missed / need to know since essentially end january 2017?
