Are there any goals other than WC to aim for in single player?

Every game I start I don't see a point of pursuing any goal other than WC - this seems the hardest and most encompassing goal so any other goal just seems like a "WC-lite" type of game. For instance, take the Norwegian wood achievement. You could conquer all the wood producing provinces, or you could just WC - its harder and encompasses the conquering all the wood provinces as well.

Just to be clear, I'm tired of doing WCs but I just dont see what other goals I could be pursuing, especially goals that are worthwhile, not the fake difficulty stuff. Can anyone help? Please dont say just do what you want, I am looking for reasonable goals to pursue in the game that are substantially different from WC.
