PS3 for non tech inlaws' netflix/dvds?

My inlaws are super non tech savvy and dont have smart tv but apparently want to watch netflix and dvd's. they have a dvd player and i was going to get them a chromecast but my wife thinks they will be too confused with two different devices/inputs. wondering if i can get an old ps3 for under $100 that would work?
