Guides and fisher people! Let's have a rod conversation

Specifically concerning two discussions here. First, guides, what rods do you put in the hands of your clients? Are you the guy who hands them a Sage One or the run to the mill Orivs starter kit? Second, fisher people, what have guides handed you and what was your take on it? Sure we all want the expensive rod but what were you thoughts? What would put in the hand of a friend that wanted to learn?
