Shiftwork, Externships, and Types of Nursing

[Discussion]

Rising senior in nursing school here, interested in learning about what non-hospital jobs BSNs can explore. I am a nurse Extern now and work every other weekend and dread it... not because I dislike nursing, but because I Extern on a floor that isn't very conducive of learning and I hate giving up every other weekend (work 9-5 M-F doing non-nursing job during summer). I am nervous about shift work when I graduate, working holidays, and so on. I know that I sorta need to put in the time and do a few years of acute work, will probably get the least desired shifts, etc. Any advice for how to stay positive? Any nurses here work 9-5 style jobs?
