OSM nest tags - what qualifies as a spawn point?

I'm curious, as I was looking through an editor and found that a lot of places in my area are tagged generically. Parks, for example are tagged as land use, rivers and ponds as water rather than rivers and ponds etc.

What tags determine spawn points? Does accurate tagging impact on these, or will generic terms make no difference? I'm pleased to see that my area hasn't had anything tagged in it to 'trick' the game into creating spawn points where they don't exist like some posts on here have mentioned, but I thought I'd query things here before I continue plotting things that aren't yet plotted.
