[SPOILERS] Emmitt quote from E5 may come back to bite him?

In episode 5, on the phone call with Ray, Emmitt tells him, "When I'm done with you, they'll be sponging you off the floor."

Not sure if this is just foreshadowing, or if this will actually have concrete ramifications, i.e. there being some kind of record of him saying that which will end up in police hands. Perhaps Varga had been recording his calls?

Would make sense, I think. Obviously with Gloria, we see that her not using technology is a boon. So Emmitt using technology would, logically, come back to bite him in the ass.
