Best strategy for 1vs1 chat

Hi

I'm looking into creating a non-xxx browser chat application where the clients have the possibility to chat 1 versus 1 with our consultants. The client pays for a formule (eg 15mins) to chat in a private room until the client's time runs out and the client is booted from the chat.

I have a background in PHP dev. Now I was wondering what the best solution would be to this specific use case? I was thinking along the lines of socket.io + nodejs backend. If so, are there specific resources I need to explore? Is this the ideal solution for this specific case or are there other options worth exploring? Are there other things I need to consider? Or sources worth checking out?
