Identical products, multiple company names?

Take a look at this search

The top two results are identical items, and there are many more of the same item further down the search. Each one has a different company name.

These items seem to clog up all the results for small electronics, cables, etc.

Are they all from the same company, listing under different names? Or are there really that many companies selling stuff from China? This stuff seems like a scam, does anyone have any more information on that?
