Small injury at work, concerned about getting reimbursed for prescription medication (NY)

Hey guys, this is my first time dealing with worker's comp.

Some stuff fell on me at work and I got a gash on my nose bridge near my eyes. (I work in retail, so not a dangerous workplace). I was really scared because it looked pretty bad and considering it was on my face, I didn't know if there could be further unseen damage. My manager filled out a report and we called the company to get a claim number. I then went to urgent care where a doctor looked at me. He cleaned it up, said I didn't need stitches, gave me a tetanus shot just in case, and gave me a script for an antibiotic ointment. I gave my claim number to the front desk.

I went to a 24 hour pharmacy and picked up with medication. It was expensive and the pharmacist said since the injury happened that night, the claim was not in the system yet. So I had to pay for the ointment. I thought about not getting it, but I didn't want to take any risks with a gash near my eyes.

I've never dealt with worker's comp so I'm just stressed out that I may have to pay for something. I'm especially uncertain about the medication because I feel like getting something reimbursed seems iffy and complicated.

Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
