MAX485 chip getting too hot

I'm using a MAX485 chip (bought a bunch of those from aliexpress) for serial communication. The communication itself does work, however, the MAX485 chip gets really hot quite fast up to a point where all I'm getting is CRC errors. I have added a 1 second delay between sending the next request but that didn't change anything, it's still getting way too hot.

As for the wiring: 5V goes to 5V on the Arduino, GND to GND, RO and DI to a digital input / output on the Arduino, RE and DE are bridged and connected to a digital output on the Arduino. A + B are connected to the cable I use for the communication.

What can I change to prevent the MAX485 from overheating?

Edit: Apparently the MAX485 chip was faulty. As soon as I connect 5V and GND it starts heating up to over 100°C. I've tested another chip and that seems to be fine so far.

Edit2: Definitely a faulty chip, the other one is working fine and doesn't heat up at all.
